Questions You Should Ask Before Getting Your Teeth Whitened

Getting your teeth whitened should be a great, exciting experience! As teeth whitening is not regulated in Australia, there’s a few questions we think you should ask before committing to a particular treatment option.

What are the typical results you get from your teeth whitening process?

For an East Coast Glow triple treatment, we can regularly achieve up to 11(!) shades whiter teeth, with an average improvement of between 6-8 shades. As part of our process, we spend the time with you to assess your teeth and the existing colour, including taking before and after pictures, so you can really see the difference.

Is there anything I need to do?

In some cases, with home whitening kits, the product needs to be used every day for up to a week, to get the best results. For other products, you need to have a mould of your teeth made before you can use the product.

With East Coast Glow, we come to you, with everything we need to whiten your teeth. Some of our customers choose to get their teeth cleaned by a dentist in the days leading up to their appointment, but it’s not a requirement.

Is your product safe?

Safety is always our number 1 priority, which is why we use a product created especially for teeth-whitening. It’s registered with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the USA, and is fully compliant with EU standards. As there are no official standards in Australia, we believe that choosing this product is the best available option for our customers.

In order to reduce the risk of enamel damage, we advise our clients to NOT use whitening toothpastes or other whitening products after they have had our teeth whitening treatment. With the results we get, it’s really not necessary anyway!

What side effects should I expect?

On occasion, our clients experience a very small amount of teeth sensitivity. It’s been very rare in our experience, however, if you do have a history of sensitive teeth, this is something you should be aware of. Sensitivity tends to subside over 24 hours and can be managed by using a sensitive teeth toothpaste.

Will your product be effective for my heavily stained teeth?

Some stains are easier to remove than others. Stains from smoking, for example, can be more challenging to remove, as can stains from tetracycline. Despite this, we do find clients with these stains are getting effective results from our triple treatment.
